As a programme manager I am responsible for the on-site management of a range of international land and cruise programmes for Go Next, a US tour operator, specialising in alumni travel.

Visiting lecturer at Fachhochschule Salzburg, University of Applied Sciences, delivering the module Quality Management in Tourism to BA students in Innovation and Management in Tourism

• Responsible for redesigning the Optimus (Fáilte Ireland’s) Service Excellent programme, compiled framework and training materials for Irish tourism and hospitality enterprises• Quality Assessor for the Optimus Service Excellence Programme, evaluating participating businesses with regard to service quality and making recommendations for future improvements

As a visiting lecturer, I have delivered sessions and modules on Services Management, Tourism Geography and Environmental Impacts of Tourism.

In my role as MA Programme Manager I:• Played a key role in securing the franchise for the delivery of all BA(Hons) and MA programmes from University of Derby (UoD), previously delivered off-campus by UoD, in 2006• Recruited staff to deliver at graduate and undergraduate level• Effectively liaised and collaborated with UoD, which contributed to the positive outcome of their QAA Collaborative Provision Audit in 2006• Exercised responsibility for the quality of MA programmes delivered• Received outstanding student feedback for lecturing at graduate and undergraduate level on modules including Research Methodologies, Services Marketing, Managing the Tourism Business Environment, Policy and Planning Debates in Tourism and Managing Cultural Change and the Tourism Consumer• Supervised graduate and undergraduate dissertations• Mentored staff in the development of their graduate supervision teaching skills• Attended international conferences, presented papers and mentored staff in developing their research interests and skills• Developed induction programmes for international students on intensive BA and MA programmes• Developed a portfolio of guest speakers from academia and industry• Promoted the MA programmes externally through Open Days and internally through a progression project.

• Wrote a quality assurance framework for newly planned tourism, hospitality and event management schools at the University of Aqaba, Jordan• Designed a HR best practices framework for tourism and hospitality operators in Jordan• Developed a curriculum for a vocational tourism college• Compiled a list of competencies and standard operating procedures for various sectors in the tourism and hospitality industry • Played a central role in the drafting of the business plans for the University’s School of Art and Design and School of Business Administration
