About Socorro Martha (Meg) Daupan

I was born and raised in the Philippines and I proudly represent my mixed heritage of indigenous ancestry, Igorot, and Filipino-Chinese roots. I hold two master's degrees: in Microbiology and Natural Resources and Environment where I studied extremophiles and community forestry, respectively. My acquired knowledge from universities across the globe (Philippines, South Korea, USA), and more than ten years of full-time work experience in non-profit organizations and academia provided me with diverse and indispensable skill sets that are necessary to tackle complex problems globally. I seek to utilize my talents and skills in bridging the gap between research and practice, particularly on issues related to UN Sustainable Development Goals, indigenous and modern conservation, and the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of conservation and the environment.
