Senior Scientist in cell culture development late phase group working on evaluating and optimizing animal component free cell culture processes for early and late phase projects to efficiently produce monoclonal antibodies. Upstream lead for a late-stage monoclonal antibody asset, working on enabling ATF N-1 intensified platform process, and process development. 6+ years experience in process development and scale-up work (ambr15, ambr250, 3L, 50L, and 200L scales). Completed Raman PAT studies to enable low level glucose control in N-1 and production. Demonstrated experience in particle size and apoptosis assays to support final process decisions and improve production harvest criteria.

Worked on the assessment of platelet function and coagulation under flow conditions in a microchip to develop a reliable bench test that can be used to evaluate patients with suspected hemostatic or thrombotic disorders.

Worked under Assistant Director of APDC to provide assistance to support ideas for pediatric devices through the product development pathway to commercialization. Compiled reports to be submitted to the FDA Office of Orphan Products Development for continued funding as well as assisted in organizing competitions and managing new announcements on website.

Worked on the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Biopharm Upstream team under the Principal Investigator on enabling science for biopharmaceutical research. Ran bioreactors in order to effectively culture mammalian CHO cells and produce therapeutic proteins. Additionally, used various analytical and perfusion technologies to monitor cell culture progress, specifically growth and expression, and ensure and improve cell health. Completed analytical summary reports on experimental data using tools such as JMP and Spotfire, helped standardize process, and wrote a standard operating procedure manual.

Mentored inner city children to raise interest in engineering majors through various hands-on computer science projects.

Taught young children (ages 4 to 8) the basics of piano playing and piano theory. Organized and conducted recitals regularly in order to give students the opportunity to showcase their skills.

Working under the supervision of Claire Segar, explored the role of sphingolipids in inflammation and macrophage differentiation, the relation of macrophage differentiation to wound healing and tissue regeneration, and the effect of drug delivery to macrophages through the use of liposome nanoparticles. In addition, worked unaided to begin the due diligence for a drug that increases union of graft-host junction for bone allografts. At the completion of research, presented a paper to the biomedical engineering department at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Working under the supervision of Dr. Georgia Chen, conducted experiments using western blotting methods to test the efficacy of a novel anti-cancer drug DSBPT and compared the results to the efficacy of a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug Cisplatin. In addition, observed and collected data for animal testing of DSBPT. At the completion of the internship, presented a poster of research findings to several members of the Winship Cancer Institute.
