I am one of three Partners at the boutique criminal defence firm of Mickelson, Whysall, Moore & Forhan Law Group, located downtown Vancouver. My practice here consists of exclusively criminal and quasi criminal cases. I have represented clients who have been charged for a variety of offences, including sexual assaults, drug trafficking, possession, break and entering, firearms offences, thefts, assaults, fraud and impaired driving. I also take on sentencing and conviction appeals, civil forfeiture cases and judicial reviews of administrative decisions. I have argued at both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal in this province.In addition to defence work, I have acted as an Ad Hoc Prosecutor for the Provincial Crown. On occasion, I also assist victims of assaults and sexual assaults navigate the criminal justice system and can provide support services to those who need independent legal advice or assistance with trial preparation. Our firm takes on cases throughout the lower mainland, Kelowna, the Sunshine Coast, Northern BC and the Yukon Territory.Outside of private practice, I volunteer by supervising law students through the UBC Law Students Legal Advice Program [LSLAP] as well as coach students in the UBC Peter Burns Mock Trial Competition. I also donate my time to provide legal services to those in need through Access Pro Bono on a regular basis. In addition to volunteer work, I am involved with the criminal subsection of the Canadian Bar Association and have presented for the CBA on the Legalization of Marijuana and its intersect with the Motor Vehicle Act. I have also presented for the Trial Lawyer's Association on pre-charge negotiation tactics with police and Crown Counsel as well as resolving sexual assaults cases and the role of restorative justice in doing so.
