After graduating from Whitworth University in December of 2019 with a bachelor's in community health and minor in psychology, I began my professional career at Unity Care NW in Bellingham, WA. While at Whitworth I was able to take courses such as anatomy and physiology, chronic disease epidemiology and prevention and psychopathology; and, finishing out my studies by researching, writing and presenting a grant proposal to a panel. I had recently completed the American Sign Language classes and utilized this opportunity to highlight the disparity of care that the Deaf, deaf and hard of hearing communities face while trying to receive medical care. At UCNW, I work closely with middle management and the medical care teams to input, edit and manage the medical provider's templated schedules, PTO, and more. Another aspect of the Provider Coordinator position is the responsibility of recording provider service level data; this includes "third out" dates, vaccine related service reports, SARS-CoV-2 and various other respiratory illness service data.Through this position I was able to take on the role of United Way Campaign Coordinator for the 2022 charity campaign which partnered with United Way of Whatcom County. As well as being nominated and chosen to attend Leadership Women, Inc. in August of 2024 for the Leadership Pipeline program; this opportunity came to me through my ability to work independently with a focus on time management, taking ownership and holding myself accountable for successes and errors, and remaining curious, respectful and open to learning. Outside of UCNW I volunteer time for Whatcom County Fire District #16 to assist the Chief and administrative personnel with presentation documentation, grant applications and other documentation of the like. I would like to acknowledge that this relationship is a personal one, as my father has been a volunteer (and now serves as chief) since before I was born. This relationship continues to provide me insight into one of our communities' greatest resources; and, also allow me a privilege that many do not have to continue the grant work that I am passionate about. I hope to make a positive impact on the community I was raised in and cherish.
