I support research initiatives across the organization using a variety of internal data sources. Currently, I am working on creating AP student profiles to describe how students move through the AP curriculum and the association of those profiles with educational outcomes.

I am a research and statistical consultant for the Big History Project, a SaaS platform funded by the global foundation started by Bill & Melinda Gates to provide innovative educational experiences. I am engaged directly by the rapid growth organization to lead several key initiatives connecting the end users with the product team. In this capacity, I present regularly to the executives on the detailed execution of the ongoing programs supporting the continued improvement of the user experience.Results in this capacity include:• Led the annual user & product reporting for the SaaS platform as the end-to-end analyst preparing and presenting reports that guided product strategy and experience for over 1M end users.• Designed and presented 5 high-profile reports for the platform that drives the mission of the foundation.• Fielded ad hoc requests and prepared accurate reports to provide insights or clarity on the right questions.

I also consult with the venture-backed Chicago based startup company that produces literacy courses through its proprietary platform. In this engagement, I provide data and analytics support for programs of the SaaS company. This requires me to partner across the matrixed organization to advance global initiatives. My engagement also includes designing a systematic process for identifying organizations implementing the platform effectively to enable increased utilization and scale of the organization.

I was the Division Administrator for Research & Communications for the agency that connects Iowans with the resources to go to college. My role is to set the strategy and lead the teams that deliver the enterprise research and data programs. We are responsible for administering state grants and scholarships as well as provides in depth research and technical assistance to the institutions serving the people of Iowa.I think strategically and lead the tactical execution of the end-to-end data and analytics programs. I engage people in the vision by communicating with stakeholders regularly to effectively manage change and maintain buy-in. I give people the tools they need to succeed and to fill in wherever needed to provide quality results. But, it is my strong interpersonal skills and technical aptitude is what enable me to build high-impact teams that expand the utilization of data.Wins in this role include:• Lead up to 6 direct reports with ownership of the nearly $1M annual budget for the programs and department.• Set the research strategy and manage the execution of the vision by internal and external resources.• Partnered with the print vendors to create a proprietary inventory management system to align the supplier resources with the demands of the program.• Saved 25% of the program costs by implementing ordering processes to better meet agency needs.• Recognized nationally for the transformation of the workflows, resources, and forms for stakeholders with the best practices in handling and utilizing the data that includes PII and confidential information.• Advice elected officials, the board of directors, and senior leaders internally and externally to provide updates on key data initiatives with recommendations for policy or programmatic needs.• Create and present an average of 12 presentations annually to provide technical assistance and updates identified by the complex research initiatives in an understandable, effective manner.

I joined the state agency as a Senior Research Analyst and worked full time as I completed my dissertation. During this time, performed research on complex and high-volume datasets covering a variety of issues including finance, community, and economic development. I worked between the leadership, the data, and the public to find the right answers to the ad hoc and strategic research initiatives.As an analyst, I created data visualizations through tools, reports, and dashboards for presentation to the public, leadership, and elected officials. I also synthesized technical insights and tools into actionable insights that told the story of the research. This enabled me to create value by strengthening the capabilities of the programs by expanding access to data-driven insights.A few achievements in this role were:• Managed multiple research projects at a time with teams of 2 – 15+ technical resources, budgets up to $100k.• Selected by senior leadership to serve as the enterprise representative to the State Longitudinal Data System team tasked with compiling inter-agency insights for policy planning.• Compiled and analyzed complex, large data sets from multiple sources to provide recommendations. • Conducted research, wrote reports, and presented 4x to national publications and organizations.
