About Meghan Blake-Horst
People tell me, “You know everyone.” This is a kind exaggeration on their part, but for years, I have forged connections between people and organizations throughout Madison, where I am a proud life-long resident. Absolutely Art, a Madison art gallery where 90% of the featured artists were local, was my creation, but I couldn’t have built it without the support of the Madison arts community. Every customer benefited from the contributions of the artists; local businesses cross-promoted products with us; and nonprofits hosted events at the store. In my 9 years at Absolutely Art, I put my skills in event planning, public relations, and leadership to work—creating a hub for local artists, rallying neighbors around events, and building an intersection where local businesses and nonprofits partnered. EVENT PLANNINGI produce “magnetic” events. Re-Art Swap, an eco-friendly exchange of art supplies that I spearheaded, was recognized nationally by NICHE Magazine. I have hosted compelling events with up to 600 attendees, including art openings, awards banquets, and outdoor flea markets.PUBLIC RELATIONSDaily, I promote the Madison arts community. A list that I compiled of Absolutely Art media mentions had >100 links to articles, blogs, websites, and broadcast productions. I regularly generate copy, promote artists, and publicize events using a powerful list of local, regional, and national personal connections.LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENTMy ability to see both the big picture and the details shows up in my volunteer and staff training. I have taught staff to be successful in both sales and maintaining organic and genuine connections with customers; I have also written a training manual that supports the growth of the organization. If you would like to connect with a business development leader with deep Madison roots, send me a LinkedIn invitation! I am available for roles that leverage my B2B savvy, innovative sales strategies, and event oversight.
Listed skills include Art, Event Planning, Community Outreach, Social Media, and 11 others.
