About Meghan Mciver
I'm a hard-working individual that believes in accomplishing a task in the most efficient and thorough way possible. I love to constantly be doing something, and hate to stand still. I'm very organized, and I have used this skill to prioritize and accomplish everything I have thus far.I began my nursing career at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina, after graduating from Binghamton University's Decker School of Nursing's accelerated BSN program (cum laude). I started in the NICU, where I gained an immense amount of skills and education, and then transitioned to the emergency department. After about 1.5 years in the ED at Forsyth, I decided to try travel nursing- I loved it! The excitement and constant change of pace, including learning new systems and developing relationships was wonderful. I did this for about 9 months, and then came back home to NC to be with my fiance. I worked as a staff/charge nurse at Wesley Long Hospital, part of the Cone Health System through December 2021. I was involved with Code Committee, as the chairperson (champion), and I was a member of Shared Governance. I have served as Treasurer as my local chapter of ENA (Northeastern Piedmont) since 2019, and was fortunate to be selected for a scholarship to attend the 2019 ENA National Conference. I also received achieved my Certified Emergency Nurse designation. I returned to travel nursing from October 2021-July 2022. Cone Health then welcomed me back into a system-wide ER nurse role.Prior to becoming a nurse, I worked in sales and marketing, specifically in the promotional product industry. This field helped me improve my communication skills, enabling me to connect better to patients. My business and communication degree (Geneseo, 2011, cum laude) allowed my proficiency on the computer and in IT beyond that of most nurses. In fact, I am frequently looked to by coworkers for IT assistance. I am proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, multiple EMRs (electronic medical records), and generally troubleshooting any Windows products. I also learned to prioritize and provide the best customer service, which easily translates to nursing.
Listed skills include Microsoft Office 2007, Student Recruitment, Marketing Communications, Social Media, and 46 others.
