From the time I was admitted to the bar in 1998, I have handled appeals, writs and civil litigation matters. However, my practice now focuses primarily on employment law and appellate work.In my work, I aim to provide day-to-day advice to employers on every employment question possible, including wage and hour issues, leaves of absences, handling terminations, and the development of employment policies. I regularly conduct trainings or counsel and advise employers on these topics and beyond, such as employee discipline, workplace investigations, independent contractors, and claims of retaliation and harrassment, or age and disability discrimination. I have successfully defended employers in lawsuits involving the aforementioned. Additionally, I have represented employers in disputes involving employees' improper use of an employers' intellectual property, including customer lists and commercially sensitive information.I've handled more than forty writs and appeals, with several published cases. I frequently work with trial counsel when they are still in the trenches to build the best record for an appeal, handle heavy law and motion work including summary judgment, pre-trial motions and post-trial work including statements of decision. When issues cannot be resolved at the trial level, I advocate for my clients in all appellate courts whether on a writ or appeal.In addition to my work in employment law, I use my experience as a life-long horsewoman to handle a variety of general counsel matters for clients with equine issues including ranch owners, horse owners and horse trainers.I was selected as one of Super Lawyers' "Rising Stars" in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 2006, I received the Pacific Coast Business Times' "Top 40 under 40" award and in 2013, I was one of the six women selected by the Pacific Coast Business Times in the Professional Services category for the Top 50 Women in Business award. In 2014, I was honored as the "Editor’s Choice" in the Professional Services category and in 2015, I was also named in Pacific Coast Business Times in its Who's Who in Professional Services list. It has been an immense honor to have my work recognized by my peers.
