Role: Leader of the in vivo pharmacology group of 4 research associates that supports 6-8 pre-clinical programs. Pharmacology representative for project teams to direct pre-clinical efficacy and PK/PD modeling through both external and internal resources.Accomplishments: • Currently leading a multi-disciplinary project team to build a data package for nomination of a drug development candidate for psoriasis.• Established a PK/PD relationship in a novel PD assay with a translational biomarker to predict efficacious dose levels in pre-clinical mouse models.• Currently developing PD assays for target validation to support transition of 2 programs into lead optimization.• Designed and executed a critical in vivo efficacy study in the CCl4-mediated lung fibrosis model to drive an early no go decision for a program in lead identification.• Developed a strategy for in vivo pharmacology to drive fibrosis focused programs.• Completed a Project Leadership training course sponsored by Duke University.

Role: Established and led the in vivo pharmacology group that supported 5 pre-clinical programs. Led internal efforts to validate multiple models of kidney and lung disease as well as conduct PK/PD studies. Designed and managed all in vivo studies with CROs and academic collaborators. Accomplishments: • Validated 5 different in vivo models in 8 months, which drove the advancement of pre-clinical programs based on strong efficacy data and establishment of PK/PD relationships.• Biology team leader of an early exploratory project that validated a therapeutic target and established assays to conduct a high throughput small molecule library screen.• Conducted an in vivo biomarker study to support an amendment of a Phase II trial to allow entry of patients on newly approved drugs. Generated the key data that enabled changes that has increased enrollment rates of the trial.

Role: Independent project leader of 2-3 research associates that directed experimental design of in vitro and in vivo models of kidney disease to identify novel therapeutic targets and test biologic as well as small molecule inhibitors for efficacy. Completed critical review of data, adhered to project timelines, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to support advancement of projects. Accomplishments:• Developed and published a novel co-morbid model of renal ischemia-reperfusion in aged mice that more closely mimicked the acute kidney injury patient population.• Identified a novel therapeutic target for kidney disease through microarray analysis of sorted macrophage subpopulations based on differential Ly6C expression to identify their various functions in the pathophysiology of acute kidney injury. • Led efforts to in-license a clinical candidate to treat acute kidney injury, which resulted in a patent filing.

• In a model of gastrointestinal ischemia-reperfusion, elucidated novel mechanisms of activation and regulation of the lectin complement pathway, a major component of the innate immune system and initiator of ischemia-reperfusion-induced tissue injury. • Developed murine microsurgical techniques to analyze the role of innate immunity in lung ischemia-reperfusion injury. • Member of the Harvard Medical School teaching faculty for first year medical students in the course entitled: The Molecular and Cellular Basis of Medicine and Development.
