Accomplished research scientist with over fifteen years of experience in studying metabolic diseases and energy balance. History of in vivo and in vitro evaluation of metabolic contributions of islets, liver, adipose tissue to the pathophysiological effects of diabetes, obesity and aging, with a focus on transcriptional regulation of novel genes and proteins of interest. Expertise in multiple disease models, target identification and validation, generation of immortalized cell lines, viral generation and expression of proteins of interest, and cell-based assay development.Key Competencies:• Hands-on experience in planning, designing and executing mechanistic pre-clinical studies in established multiple rodent models of diabetes, obesity, and hyperglycemia. • Significant experience in in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro molecular and cell biology techniques, quantitative/qualitative research methodologies, clinical sample handling, troubleshooting and development of technical procedures and SOPs.• Extensive experience with collection, interpretation and statistical analysis of data and effective communication of results at national and international scientific meetings in the form of abstracts, oral and poster presentations as well as multiple high quality peer-reviewed publications.• Experienced in supervising and training students and research technicians and fostering teamwork within large laboratory groups.
