Art therapist - facilitator - educator - individuals - groups Being creative is fulfilling. Providing this sense of affirming purpose is a core goal in my work as an art therapist - one which I have realized with clients in long term care, those living with degenerative disorders, and alongside children with behavioural issues.I have long been interested in the arts as a communication tool. As a volunteer with the Strengthening Families program I used the arts to facilitate self-expression, to put new ways of interacting into practice, and to allow family members of all ages to communicate with each other. Equipped with an excellent knowledge of materials and techniques, I use art as a platform to allow my clients to express themselves, to grow, and to learn.During my work with children at sites including the Jewish General Psychiatry Unit, schools, and in-home care, I have become fascinated by the wide variety of pedagogical and therapeutic techniques and approaches that are enriched with creative interventions. By harnessing the intrinsically therapeutic nature of creativity and carefully adapting art directives, I have employed art both as a method for teaching a concept, and to immerse clients in an activity that can expand and strengthen their repertoire of skills.With a good sense of humour, a natural inclination towards teamwork, and an ever-evolving creative approach, I aim to build safe relationships in an environment where autonomy is respected and exploration is encouraged. I am empathetic and committed to assisting and advocating for people from all walks of life. Working in the community and in clinical environments to aid clients with diverse diagnoses, from different cultures, and of all ages, has taught me how to remain adaptable yet firmly committed to my core values and to this aim.Populations: Children- Seniors- Family- People living with degenerative diseases- impaired cognitive functioning and deficits- mental illness and addictions
