The Canadian YMCA Federation is made up of 50 independent and autonomous Member Associations across the country that share a common mandate to advance the health and well-being of Canadians. In this newly created role in the National Office leading marketing and communications, I was hired to create a national federation-wide brand strategy, and change perception of the YMCA as just a ‘gym and swim’ to becoming known as a powerful cause driven charity that builds healthy communities. The YMCA is a complex organization that offers Health and Fitness centers, the largest Child Care network in Canada, Employment and Newcomer Services, Camps, Youth Leadership programs, and even offers Alternative High Schools! I was hired to bring all YMCA programs in Canada together under a common brand strategy, naming architecture, and brand positioning – in order to help increase overall revenue. - We successfully launched a new brand strategy, and had 100% adoption across all independent YMCA Associations, with their employee satisfaction ratings of 8.9/10 on the brand work accomplished and delivered. - During my time, we increased the YMCA's brand value from $1.6B nationally in 2009 to $1.9B in 2013, a 23.3% increase.- Led the YMCAs first ever national integrated bilingual advertising campaign (the first in YMCAs 160 year history), with TV, Radio, Online ads, Print, Outdoor and website. Secured millions in pro-bono media. - Led the YMCA Strong Kids brand refresh of the national marketing campaign, resulting in a 34.2% increase in donors and 8.2% in dollars raised annually, translating to $13.6 million in annual revenue. - - - Created new national Digital Media Handbook for the federation, building a digital culture in Canada- Managed our confidential appearance on Undercover Boss Canada with President and CEO Scott Haldane.- On the advisory board for CBC Live Right Now’s national campaign for healthy active living For more info, visit http://ymca.ca
