During this time, I led the staff and board through the finalization of our 5-year strategic plan, and annual operating plan and budget. We worked collaboratively with a number of stakeholders, board committees, partners on the process, which culminated in a successful approval of the plan at our April National Board of Directors meeting. -

In this newly created role in the National Office leading marketing and communications, I was hired to create a national federation-wide brand strategy, and change perception of the YMCA as just a ‘gym and swim’ to becoming known as a powerful cause driven charity that builds healthy communities. The YMCA is a complex organization that offers Health and Fitness centers, the largest Child Care network in Canada, Employment and Newcomer Services, Camps, Youth Leadership programs, and even offers Alternative High Schools! I was hired to bring all YMCA programs in Canada together under a common brand strategy, naming architecture, and brand positioning – in order to help increase overall revenue. - We successfully launched a new brand strategy, and had 100% adoption across all independent YMCA Associations, with their employee satisfaction ratings of 8.9/10 on the brand work accomplished and delivered. - During my time, we increased the YMCA's brand value from $1.6B nationally in 2009 to $1.9B in 2013, a 23.3% increase.- Led the YMCAs first ever national integrated bilingual advertising campaign (the first in YMCAs 160 year history), with TV, Radio, Online ads, Print, Outdoor and website.
