About Margaret (Meg) Lowman Phd

I leap out of bed every morning to pursue my life's purpose to explore, research, and raise awareness for global forest conservation. I welcome partnering with companies who want to support this effort through their corporate responsibility, green business and sustainability initiatives. Tommy Hilfiger, Rolex Corporation, and Tiger Pacific have used my expertise. MY GOAL IS TO SERVE THE GLOBAL GOOD AS A MENTOR, EDUCATOR, AUTHOR , ADVISORClimate change, global forest health, and biodiversity impact us all. It’s my mission to educate diverse audiences – from the next generation to corporate leaders – that the time is now to make sustainability of our natural resources and forest stewardship central to our education curriculum, policy making and corporate social responsibility. My goal mentor 10M kids (especially women and minorities), address over 10K corporate leaders, and conserve over 10M acres of forest. A healthy ecosystem can provide women and indigenous families an income derived from sustainable-sourced products versus extraction industries like logging. My expertise in forest canopy science includes groundbreaking work in 46 countries and all seven continents; co-chairing five global canopy conferences; and authoring over 150 scientific publications and nine books on forest science and sustainability. My first book, “Life in the Treetops,” received a NY Times Sunday Book Review.NICKNAMED ‘CANOPY MEG” BY BOB BALLARD; HONORED AN ASTEROID BEARS MY NAMEBob Ballard of Titanic fame nicknamed me, “Canopy Meg” when we were Chief Scientists for the Jason Project – inspiring students to pursue science careers. Astronomer Carolyn Shoemaker named an asteroid after me. These accolades allow me to leverage my global network of influencers to solve environmental challenges.WELCOMES OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE AS A SUSTAINABILITY ADVISOR, BOARD MEMBER I’m open to connect with people at companies seeking a Sustainability Advisor and/or Board Member to guide their corporate responsibility, green business, and sustainability initiatives.
