I create blogs related to the junk removal industry as well as marketing emails and a monthly newsletter.

As a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for more than ten years, I've gleaned lots of tips and ideas on writing for children and teens, and finally I'm putting them to use. Since 2017, I've concentrated on researching and writing a contemporary young adult novel. Currently, I've finished three complete drafts, have gone through critiques and revisions, and am currently seeking an agent. I also have a nonfiction picture book manuscript completed.

As editor of the community magazine for one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, I helped shape Georgetown View into a glossy, 80- to 90-page monthly magazine filled with content that resonated with residents and that helped market Georgetown, Texas, to prospective residents and businesses. My duties included substantive editing of articles, hiring freelancers, assigning articles, creating and managing the editorial calendars and workflow documents, creating writer guidelines and editorial policies, conducting writer workshops, leading editorial meetings, representing the magazine in public.

As managing editor, I made article assignments, managed the editorial calendar, wrote articles, and edited articles. For six months, I acted as interim editor while our editor took a sabbatical. During that time, I also directed editorial content, corresponded with advertisers and readers, wrote monthly editor's notes, and worked closely with our director of photography.

In addition to copyediting all articles, I also wrote articles (business, fitness, human interest, informational, and profile) and took photos for them. For business articles, I went beyond the usual "quality service/quality product" focus and instead told the stories behind the owners, employees, products, or services. I used this storytelling approach for such diverse businesses as an HVAC company, an animal hospital, a Chinese medicine practitioner, restaurants, wineries, and insurance companies. I also took photos for most of my articles.

Most of my articles were for the health & fitness section of the magazine, where I profiled people taking different approaches to fitness: yoga for veterans, rock climbing, couples workouts, cycling, firefighter fitness routines, ballroom dancing. I also wrote articles on nature (river clean-ups, camping, a hike-and-bike trail) as well as human interest articles on all sorts of people, from a woman who makes elaborate Renaissance costumes to a winning soccer coach to a gunsmith. I also took photos for most of my articles.

As a work-for-hire contractor, I completed various projects for publishers and book packagers. Projects have included textbook spreads, study guides, lesson plans, and guides for teaching literature, reading, and writing. I've also written original fiction and nonfiction for textbooks, as well as guides for teaching history using graphic novels. Other projects have included extensive online novel guides.
