Don’t just make room at the table – make the table a place where people want to be. This is the common cord that weaves throughout my life in education, the tech industry, and in non-profit and community development. I remove obstacles, hold up mirrors, change the rules, find talent, fill gaps, listen. I am drawn to roles where I can build community by marshalling the resources and talent at hand. In the 25+ years I have spent in the software industry as a project manager, program manager, managing editor, or business analyst, my greatest satisfaction – and success – has always come from being that catalyst. At the heart of this practice is my belief that great teamwork depends on transparency over rapport, cooperation over collaboration, and on equity over fairness. When I joined Waypoint Ventures in 2006, it was because these values were at the heart of what we were trying to achieve, in creating a company where people wanted to be, and putting those same values into practice with our clients. We know it works, because our people and our clients keep coming back to the table.[A note to family and friends: I use LinkedIn for professional purposes only. Thank you for understanding.]
