Dr. Maryam E. Grami holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Davis (UCD), 1991. Her doctoral research work was on the high temperature synthesis and processing of ceramics and ceramic matrix composites. She was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the UCD Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science for two years before joining the Winona State University Department of Composite Materials Engineering at in 1993.She received the NASA Summer Research Faculty Fellowship in 2002, 2003, 2009 and 2010 to collaborate with the Ceramic and Advanced Metallic Branches of NASA at the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She was also a researcher at the Ceramic Branch of Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at the Wright Patterson Air Force Research Laboratory in 2011. Dr. Grami was granted the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to spend her sabbatical leave at the University of Qatar in academic year 2003-2004. She has also received her second Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to teach and conduct research on composite materials at the United Arab Emirates for her sabbatical leave in academic year 2013-2014. Instead, she spent the year as a visiting professor and researcher at the Hebei University of Technology in Tianjin, China.
