About Mehala Balamurali

I am an innovative, passionate and highly organized researcher with 20+ years of academic and industry experience in Modelling and Simulation, Evolutionary Algorithms, Data Science, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Sensors and Signals, Assistive Technologies and Machine Perception research related works. As a Senior Research Fellow leading AI research and innovation, I guide cross-functional teams in developing and implementing cutting-edge AI solutions. My role involves acting as the principal investigator and advisor, managing complex research initiatives, and delivering impactful results. Through my work, I aim to advance AI knowledge and its application across various domains by finding practical, evidence-based solutions to real-world problems. After a significant focus on AI in mine automation, my current research is directed towards leveraging AI for environmental sustainability and mine closure.I have co-authored more than 30+ publications including patent application, journal papers, book chapters, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
