About Mehdi Lima, Phd

With more than 13 years of experience in civil and structural engineering (including industry and research), Mehdi has a high level of technical capability in Finite Element (FE) analysis and load rating of various types of bridges/ culverts/buildings and expert in providing a recommendation for maintenance and rehabilitation of structures. As a Technical Principal and Design Manager at Sterling, he has managed a team of experienced and young engineers to deliver various design/investigation/inspection projects. He has extensive experience in inspections and assessments of concrete, steel, and masonry bridges, as well as various types of culverts. Mehdi has established himself as a capable design lead of dated railway bridges and focused on providing solutions to upgrade/maintain the existing structure.     I played a key role in successfully completing the structural health monitoring of steel, concrete and composite bridges in the region and the results was successfully delivered to the main roads office as well as published in reputable journals. These activities were equivalent to Level 3 of bridge inspection TMR, QLD. The developed responsibilities and skills are as follows:- Managed a team responsible for structural health monitoring of 110 large bridges in Guilan province, Iran.- Controlled the designed bridge’s details with as-built.- Inspected and monitored the existing condition of more than 200 bridges visually.- Detection of damages in exiting bridges (crack, corrosion, scouring, land slide, etc.).- Assessed the bridge’s condition and provided a report with effective recommendations for maintenance.- Supervised road’s and bridge’s construction.- Controlled the weld quality of new constructed steel bridges based on the national code of standard.
