About Mehdi Soltani

Dr. Soltani has more than 30 years of practical and research experience in various fields of engineering with particular interest in the power generation industry. Dr. Soltani has significant skills in project management, cost control, and reliability in meeting commitments. His academic training and practical experience have provided him with a strong background in the areas of thermal fluid science with specific expertise in turbulent/multiphase flows, and computational methods with applications in air pollution control, microcontamination, and in deposition process of nonspherical flyash and pulverized coal particles in coal combustors and coal gasifiers among others. He has developed a Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) code for analyzing instantaneous turbulent flow field and motions of suspended charged and neutral particles. Dr. Soltani’s ability and success in these research areas have led to publishing a number of journal articles and to attending a number of national and international conferences. Dr. Soltani is an expert in performance testing, measurement uncertainty, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Air Quality Control System (AQCS), Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD), Cycle design. Dr. Soltani has also performed/ supervised a detailed uncertainty analysis on various power projects at Bechtel and is a leading authority in uncertainty analysis. Dr. Soltani is member of the 19.1 Test Uncertainty committee of ASME International.
