Mehmet Onur Arıcan received his B.Sc. (1st Class Honors, 3.33/4.00) and M.Sc. degrees (4.00/4.00) at the Department of Chemistry from Kocaeli University in 2012 and 2014, respectively. To broaden his knowledge and vision, he joined the Shrike Zhang Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School as Visiting Ph.D. Student between June 2021 to June 2022 and worked on designing and developing tough porous bioinks with tunable mechanical properties for 3D (bio)printing and regenerative medicine. He is currently awarded a Ph.D. degree in the Department of Polymer Science and Technology at Kocaeli University under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Olcay Mert with the thesis titled “Poly(Substituted Glycolide) Nanomaterials for Drug Release Systems and GelMA Based Hydrogel Systems for Bone Tissue Engineering”.During his postgraduate education, he worked as a project assistant in various national (5 TUBITAK & 1 BAP (Higher Education Institutions)) and international (1 TUBITAK 2214A) projects. His research interest focuses on the preparation of novel monomers and polymers to obtain unique macromolecular structures, which have been designed as thermosensitive hydrogel platforms and nanoparticulate systems for drug delivery systems, and bioinks with robust mechanical properties for use in tissue engineering applications. Throughout his career, he made 14 scientific studies, 8 of which were published in prestigious journals such as Macromolecules, Polymer Chemistry, and 6 publications at the submission/writing stage. These studies have also been the subject of a total of 4 patents (2 international and 2 national). The works he took part in turned into 10 oral presentations and 19 poster presentations at relevant congresses at the national and international levels.In his leisure time, he prefers to read, especially about history and behavioral science, listen to music, and spend time with his family.* He has multidisciplinary training and research experiences in chemistry, polymer, and biomedical engineering.* Experienced in the design, synthesis, and characterization (NMR, ATR-FTIR, GPC, DSC, TGA) of organic compounds and polymeric materials.* Skilled in the fabrication of nanomaterials for drug delivery systems.* He is a passionate polymer chemist with his advanced technical skills, a strong desire to learn new subjects, and endless curiosity about science.
