As a PhD candidate and junior research fellow at Estonian Business School, my work centers on academic research and teaching. My current research investigates the impact of filtered selfies on social media and their effect on 13-14-year-old girls’ body image, specifically focusing on facial appearance satisfaction during this critical developmental stage. I aim to explore whether authentic, unfiltered Instagram influencers can be utilized for the greater good by improving facial appearance satisfaction.While my past career in footwear development provided me with global experience across Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and China, I have since fully transitioned into academia. Although my previous roles in retailing, merchandising, and collection development remain a part of my professional history, my true passion lies in advancing more inclusive and diverse representations of beauty, fostering a healthier self-image free from comparisons.
