Hi, my name is Meike.Already as a child I was fascinated by the beauty of the build environment and its influence on people’s lives. As my parents built their home I basically grew up in a building that was constantly changing.I fostered my fascination with an education in civil engineering but soon felt that buildings are so much more than materials and construction. So I continued my studies in architecture exploring the more atmospheric and social components of the built environment and later even looking into the bigger implictions beyond the building itself, I did a Master’s degree in urban design.Personally, I was always interested in the sustainable impacts of design and luckily the firm where I started out as an intern was focusing on the renovation of postwar mass-produced housing. I worked a lot on visualisation but also detail planning while I had the frequent chance to discuss the different aspects of projects with my coworkers. These experiences had a greater influence on my development as an architect that any course at school could ever have had.For me architecture is all about the wellbeing of the inhabitant be it in various forms of human-human or human-nature cohabitation or having a positive impact on a healthy and sustainable daily behaviour - architecture is nor the solution but an important enabeling element.Feel free to contact me if you have questions or considerations.
