My new book ‘Central African Forests Forever’ presents opportunities and solutions to balance protection and sustainable use of forests in Central Africa with the needs of further development in times of rapid population growth and global pressure on natural resources in this part of the world. The book grows like a tree. The book Central African Forests Forever is part of a new international campaign to raise more awareness about the importance of the magnificent forests in Central Africa. Selection projects: * Annually: presentation about design inspired by nature at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. * At the request of FSC International: international city-strategy.* At the request of BirdLife International: advice new logo and new mission statement. * At the request of Dutch Birdlife-partner Vogelbescherming Nederland: advice about marketing opportunities of a sustainable product from Kalimantan, Indonesia. * At the request of Dutch consultancy firm Conclusion: set-up of Amazon hall in the head office in Utrecht. Result: continuing exposure of the Amazon and sustainable rainforest products at meetings of clients from business and government. Idea and production of media-event. Result: 3 minutes TV-coverage by national news youth program (NOS-Jeugdjournaal). * Real life puppet house: free publicity event to promote the use of FSC-certified timber. Results: media coverage reaching out to 10 million people, contribution to increase of spontaneous recognition of the FSC brand from 21% to 33%.* Product-innovation: concept new sustainable consumer product.

Communication management * Campaignleader multimedia campaign for FSC by WWF Netherlands, FSC Netherlands and 35 Dutch companies in the timber industry.On the same day, at the same hour, all mayors in the Netherlands (almost 500 at that time) received a chairman’s hammer of FSC-certified wood from children dressed as trees. Results: huge media coverage with pictures in regional and local newspapers. Spontaneous recognition of the FSC brand increases from 13% to 21%. Breakthrough of FSC Netherlands in building and construction in towns and cities. * Coordinator national campaign of 25 Dutch nature conservation and environmental NGO’s, regarding the elections for the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer). Result: three passages about development of ‘new nature’, infrastructure and energy in the coalition agreement. * Communications climate change and energy. Results: profound media attention, especially on television. Selection special projects * Introduction of the first endproduct of sustainable wild rubber from the rainforests of the Brazilian Amazon on the European market. Result: Worlds biggest bicycle multinational Giant, puts 10.000 saddle bags of sustainable wild rubber, on its Brazil Bike. * New partnerships. Results: cooperation of WWF NL and national sportassociations NISB-NOC-NSF and cooperation with the Dutch Association of (400) Museums. * Public relations for Neiva Guedes and her hyacinth macaw project in the Pantanal in Brazil. Results: 3 minutes TV-coverage by national news youth program (NOS-Jeugdjournaal). The late Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands bestows the Order of the Golden Arc on Neiva Guedes. Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, receives Neiva in Buckingham Palace. Brouwers story about Neiva Guedes and her hyacinth macaw project has been published in three continents and was translated into Vietnamese.
