CurrentI head the Issues & Appeals Practice in Jones Day's New York Office, and have argued appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court and in eight federal circuits, including the landmark personal jurisdiction case Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations v. Brown, 131 S. Ct. 2846 (2011), in the U.S. Supreme Court, and successfully representing American Needle in American Needle, Inc. v. National Football League, 130 S. Ct. 2201 (2010). I also brief and argue state court appeals and dispositive motions in significant trial level cases across the country.Other recent experience includes successfully representing corporations sued under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Alien Tort Statute, and arguing one of the first federal appeals addressing Article III standing under the Supreme Court's 2016 Spokeo decision. I have also has represented securities issuers in federal securities fraud litigation, and defendants in several consumer class actions. Prior to joining Jones Day, I was a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where I served as deputy chief appellate attorney and tried criminal cases in federal district court.I am a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and the American Law Institute and serve on the boards of the Dwight D. Opperman Institute of Judicial Administration and the Office of the Appellate Defender and as vice chair of the National Legal Committee of AJC.
