Zytner- Proposed an experiment on the aging of petroleum hydrocarbon in soil and its effects on extractability and degradation efficiencies using bioventing- Extracted petroleum hydrocarbon from soil samples and analyzed in a GC-FID - Measured soil samples for total microbial count, pH, and moisture content - Managed a student during a summer co-op term and oversaw the optimization andtroubleshooting for the methods involved in microbial analysis- Compiled and evaluated data to produce a report on the effects of contaminant age on remediation to better handle sources of petroleum contamination, including USTs- Presented results at the International East Coast Conference on Soils, Sediment, Water, and Energy in 2017 in Amherst, MA, hosted by the Association for Environmental Health & Sciences Foundation
