Team manger for sensory impairment since 2016. I am a fully qualified teacher (PGCE 11-19 yrs Sheffield Hallam University 1997). Early in my career, I worked as an EMTAG teacher in Rotherham, raising achievement of students with English as an Additional Language within a large inner city comprehensive school, and was promoted during my time there to Language and Curriculum Development Coordinator, managing the department. I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Bilingualism in Education from the University of Birmingham in 2002 whilst in post and wrote the school’s race equality policy. I retain a real interest within EAL which I have called upon many times in my current role. I hold the mandatory qualification in Special Education - Vision Impairment from the University of Birmingham and have worked within the field of sensory impairment since 2003 within Worcestershire, developing a large network of contacts and collaborations. Other experience includes project work and development work within the field of disability and acquired brain injuries which gave me a broad knowledge base within disability. I have a degree in Social Sciences (UWE 1993) and a Masters in International Studies (University of Sheffield 1995), am a competent Braille specialist and advocate for children and young people with additional needs. Known for being reliable, knowledgeable and impact- driven within my field.
