Mel Collins is a UK Author and former prison governor. Her first book ‘The Handbook for Highly Sensitive People’ was published in January 2019 by Watkins Publishing, and has been translated into eleven other languages to date. Her latest book 'Positive Affirmations for Sensitive People' was published in March 2022 by Welbeck publishing. She has appeared on the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 discussing HSPs, and she has since received widespread interest in her work from both consumers and the press alike, including Radio 5 Live, the Daily Mail, the Sunday People and numerous magazines including Psychologies, Natural Health, Soul and Spirit, Spirit and Destiny, Kindred Spirit and OmTimes.She is also a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, HSP Consultant, Life Coach, Healer, and Intuitive. Mel also studied extensively under the late Jungian Psychotherapist Dr Roger Woolger in Deep Memory Process. Before her work as a former counsellor, specialising in HSPs, she worked in Her Majesty’s Prison Service – including eight years as a Prison Governor managing Drug and Alcohol Misuse Services. Being innately sensitive in a challenging prison setting has given her an incredible learning experience and basis for developing practical coping strategies for managing certain aspects of the HSP trait. She is passionate about raising awareness about HSPs and especially about those who work in challenging workplaces or in frontline jobs. She also offers talks and wellbeing training for HSPs to businesses and organisations.
