This was a fun seasonal job with a company I believe in. Bright Farms operates a series of mega-sized, hydroponic greenhouses outside of major metropolitan areas with the mission to provide city-dwellers with fresh, nutritious produce. In this role, I had my own territory and a flexible schedule; I coordinated with points of contact at area produce retailers. This required adaptability, good communication skills, and field work. While it's technically marketing, the job is really sales.

In addition to working the circulation desk and assisting students with research and paper-writing strategies, I acted as an on-call media specialist for faculty and staff. Because this was an academic library, all staff persons had some knowledge of academic requirements in terms of research and writing papers. I produced guidance material for print as well as for the library's blog and web site.

I instructed students in composition, reading comprehension, and academic strategy. With a focus on logic and theory, students learned through consistent practice and group discussion of ideas.

I trained and managed a team of fundraisers. Our job was to connect with the public and build membership for progressive non-profits. A major part of this was communicating a lot of varied information in a concise, accessible manner.This job ended with the closure of the Minnesota office.

The professor of this class encouraged me to use my skills as a writer to teach undergrad students to write better papers. I saw vast improvement in most students; students who had turned in D papers the first time around wrote A papers by the end of the term. It was very rewarding.Additional duties included grading papers and exams, assisting students with study strategies, and leading some class discussion.
