About Mel Mcelhatton

Mel McElhatton is a Maltese social worker and Gestalt Psychotherapist, who has spent the past 8 years working directly with individuals battling addiction, both within a community, as well as, a residential setting. They have also supported families of individuals with addiction problems, empowering them to make the necessary changes in their lives. Prior to working in the field of addiction, Mel worked in the physical health sector at the local hospital, and within the mental health sector by providing support to individuals residing in assisted housing. Through these experiences, they began to see addiction through more holistic eyes. Further, they have tried to implement this more holistic view of addiction or disordered behaviour in their practice and in their training.Apart from the addiction sector, Mel specialises in Gender, Sexuality, and Neurodiversity. Mel offers Adult ADHD Assessments upon request or after an initial assessment is done. Mel believes strongly in the power of humour in their work, and in following where the research and other evidence are pointing towards. In fact, their practice is strongly based on evidence.
