My name is Melissa and I have recently graduated from Manchester Community College (MCC) an ABA approved program earning an Associate Degree. I am also currently a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, and the National Association of Legal Assistants. I am eager to learn and ready to use the knowledge and skills I have developed during my legal courses. I have transitioned my career from retail/sales to a legal profession. I have 7+ years of customer service experience, and 3+ years in retail/sales experience and office-work environment. I had the opportunity this summer 2023 to intern at a Law Firm and was able to experience organizing files, e-filing, communicating with clients and attorneys, researching and investigation, legal technology, case planning development and drafting and analyzing legal documents. I was able to recognize how important us paralegals are because we are the heart of the law firm. We help support lawyers during trial and prepare for cases and that is what I thrive to be. I take pride in my time management skills and have a strong ability to effectively coordinate tasks. I am highly organized, independent and efficient in fast-paced multitasking office environment. As a customer service representative, I developed a great interpersonal and communication skills and proactively resolving escalated customer issues. I am also a leader and a team player and always looking for new challenges that come my way. In the midst of those challenges, it will show how fast of a learner and strategic thinking skills I have. I have gain more legal knowledge during this internship and during the legal courses I have taken and I am more than ready and capable to get the job done. I am very eager and willing to learn and I believe I will add to any law firm that will have me. I look forward to learning and growing on my journey as a legal profession.
