I have been involved in the Shirley Rugby club since my son started playing rugby when he was 5. In 2017 the club called for new board members and I was happy to put my name forward to offer services in regards to sport administration.

The New Zealand Institute of Sport (NZIS) was established in 1996 to provide tertiary level education for those interested in a career in the Sport, Fitness and Recreation industry. Courses have been developed to reflect the rapidly expanding and changing needs of this growing industry.My role is predominately Christchurch based where I am responsible for marketing NZIS to the industry and to assist our students by gaining hands on experiences during their studies.

This was a year contract to assist with the recovery of sport and recreation in Christchurch following the damaging Christchurch earthquakes. One of of my projects included a feasibility studies on a specific sport to assess whether the damage to multiple clubs including loss of memberships to these clubs - particularly in the hardest hit Eastern suburb areas, justified merging or closing clubs. Many schools were site sharing, meaning some students weren't starting school until 1pm and others were finishing at 1pm. These activities varied across the schools depending on demand/need. This was a fixed term maternity leave contact. My role was to assist the Sports Services Team within the Sport and Recreation Unit. The main project during my time within this team was Rugby World Cup 2011. The role saw me liaise with teams regarding training venues and promotional events during their time in the wider Canterbury area.
