Bikeability InstructorLincolnshire County Council May 2014 - 2015Lincolnshire County Council has adopted the National Standard for cycle training and is offering BIKEABILITY to Lincolnshire schools. Bikeability is described as the 21st century cycling proficiency and is delivered by fully qualified National Standard instructors. With three levels of proficiency, young cyclists develop their skills and confidence, learning to cycle safely on today’s busy roads. Most training is currently taking place in Primary schools, delivered to Year 5 and Year 6 children over two consecutive days. Level 1 training covers basic bike handling skills in a controlled environment away from roads. Once confident that the children have full control of their bicycles, instructors will move small groups onto local roads where children are taught to cycle planned routes on minor roads, offering real cycling experiences as part of Level 2 Training.
