The Canadian Medical Association, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions and other organizations have cited this shortage as an urgent need. Hospital Emergency Departments are being forced to close due to staffing shortages and remaining healthcare workers are struggling with burnout due to the increased demands of constantly working while understaffed.
