Melanie Bowles is Senior Lecturer in Digital Textiles at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Principal author of best selling publication‘Digital Textile Design’, Laurence King, 2009 and publication Print Make Wear - Creative projects for Digital Textile Design - Laurence King.Melanie’s background in embroidery, textiles, graphic design and education is the focus of her work using textiles as the medium to bring people together and encourage learning new skills. She is the Director of Stitch-School Ltd whose aim is to provide professional guidance to the benefits of hand embroidery through embroidery kits, workshops and community events around the large communal stitch table.Clients and collaborations include: V&A Dundee, Barbican Center, Alexander McQueen, Marie Curie, Trimarchi Argentina, Brixton x Harlem Festival, London Craft Week, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Old Spitalfields Market and University of the Arts, London.
