Donald Danforth Plant Science Center Reu Summer InternDonald Danforth Plant Science Center May 2022 - Aug 2022St Louis, Missouri, United StatesI am interning at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center as a research intern endorsed by the NSF. I am analyzing salt tolerance data in Paspalum vaginatum. This data was collected at the Bellwether Foundation Phenotyping Facility at the Danforth Center where each plant is monitored and pictured everyday. These images were processed through PlantCV, an image processing toolkit for plant phenotypic analysis. My job consisted of cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting the phenotypic data for the different paspalum species and salt treatments to better understand salt tolerance and the genetics driving it. -
Scientific ResearcherUniversity Of Florida Jan 2022 - Jun 2022United StatesSpearheaded my own research study to investigate the relationship between a Chinese boring beetle (Acanthotomicus suncei) and its associated fungi Geosmithia Luteobrunnea which is killing American Sweetgum trees (Liquidambar styraciflua) in China. Understanding the complex relationship between all three organisms will allow us to be better prepared if A.suncei were to be imported into North America. -
