Special Education Team Leader - As part of this role, I am charged with keeping our special education teachers and paraprofessionals abreast of campus and district expectations and changes. I am a motivator who helps my team find strategies to help students succeed in inclusive environments. I work with students, designing lessons to meet their individual needs based on pre and post assessment data. My expertise lies in the instruction of reading, where I have been able to help students, in upper grades, with disabilities move from nonreaders to readers using systematic phonological awareness instruction. I am also charged with case managing and assuring that student education plans are up to date and follow district/state guidelines. I assist campus personnel when translation in Spanish/English is needed. I am an active participant in volunteering my time to students as is shown by my time leading our drama club and gardening club. I am also a part of our school district's Curriculum Design Team, which continues to work on improving complexity of standards and vertical alignment throughout. I willing take on extra responsibilities as well. For instance, I lead the drama club at our school and am currently in charge of the beautification of our school's garden which is a laborious but exciting processes.
