• Attend all board and committee meetings and functions, such as specialevents. Board Zoom meetings will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm the lastTuesday of the month beginning on January 30, 2024 and will be held foralternate months, a total of five Zoom meetings and one in-person dinnermeeting. Board members will receive a notice/invite for the Zoom meeting inadvance of the meeting.• Be informed about the TLI’s mission, services, policies, and programs.• Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee• meetings.• Serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments;for example, assisting with various special events.• Make a personal financial contribution to TLI.• Advocate for TLI by informing others about our organization.• Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significantcontributions to the work of the board and TLI.• Keep up-to-date on developments in TLI’s mission and goals.• Follow conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.• Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities such as reviewingour financial statements.

Melanie’s connection to West Virginia and SHIELD stems back to 2019. Melanie served as an active member of the Board of Directors for SHIELD from August 2019 until November 2021. Melanie’s heart has grown large for the Team in WV, and she accepted a Position as Program Development Consultant starting November 8th, 2021 under the Sisters of St. Joseph Health and Wellness Foundation Grant SHIELD received. Melanie will be working to administer training and event coordination, database management, and to facilitate content development with the Speaker’s Bureau and Board of Directors. Melanie will manage outreach and logistics for SHIELD training requests along with a system to log, track and archive outreach provided. Melanie will be working to develop a process for recruiting high school ambassadors for SHIELD and empowering youth under SHIELD’s Youth Mobilization Initiative. Melanie will also be managing SHIELD’s social media and the SHIELD Website for updates. Melanie is passionate about the work being done in WV and is honored to be a part.

Coordinate and provide forensic interviews for referred cases in accordance with national best practice and current training standards. Forensic Interviews conducted will be developmentally and culturally appropriate and legally defensible. Victim centered approach for a multidisciplinary response. Provide support and case management for child victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to domestic violence and child victims of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking ages 2-17.Shared with Your friends

*Responsible for providing advocacy services to child victims and their families when sexual abuse and/or serious physical abuse has been alleged. Involved in coordinating support services that have been recommended by the Multidisciplinary Team members, identifying any barriers that may prevent the family from receiving services, and advocating for immediate service implementation. Present when children and families are at the Center to support and answer questions about the investigative process, court process, and treatment options. Monitor and maintain the case logistics and track Maintain strict standards of confidentiality. -Maintain contact with the victim and family throughout the investigation and prosecution when requested. Work collaboratively with Victim Witness Advocates. -Assists with community education, outreach and professional trainings on child abuse issues. -Provides short term case management for all child victims and their families. -Researches, maintains and makes all necessary referrals for follow up services to appropriate agencies. -Actively participates in triage, case review meetings and team meetings. -Be available as a witness/support in court as required. -Reports any information of abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter to the appropriate parties. -Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, theories and practices in the area of child physical and sexual abuse including the child advocacy center model and best practices, child exploitation and child trafficking, roles of the multidisciplinary team and forensic interviewing. -Participate in all Children’s Cove fundraising events. -Performs other similar or related duties as required or as situations dictates.

-Assisting victims to obtain temporary restraining orders in the district court.-Notify victims of scheduled permanent restraining order hearings and offering support at these hearings.-Explaining the judicial process, assisting the victims in communicating their needs to the court and discussing the option of criminal charges with victims.-Providing confidential support of survivors of domestic violence,sexual assault and stalking.-Accompanying victims to the hospital,police department, and criminal proceedings, whenever appropriate.-Ensuring victims are treated with fairness and dignity.-Referring victims to area crisis centers, legal assistance, and other social service agencies.-Answering crisis hotline calls.-Conducting one on one meetings with victims.-Coordinating and participating in support groups (if needed)-Making contacts/referrals to social service agencies & other community resources.-Participating in public outreach and education efforts to community organizations,hospitals,clinics etc.-Participating in the distribution of brochures,posters,and other information about domestic and sexual violence and the resources available to victims of such violence.

•Set up for camp every morning (put fans out, help with registration, shoot around in the gym with the kids and staff who get there early)•Have responsibility of my own team, kids ages 6-11. Take attendance every day and report to the camp director. Teach skills of the game through stations, rotate kids effectively.
