My name is Melanie Soverinsky and I graduated from Michigan State University in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with minors in Public Relations and Sports Journalism. I graduated from MSU's Honors College as a Board of Trustees Scholarship Award recipient, maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout my four years.I recently wrapped up my seasonal role as a PR/Media Relations Assistant with the Detroit Red Wings for the 2023-24 season. This role entailed day-to-day tasks within the communications department as well as developing content for Detroitredwings.comBefore joining the Red Wings, I completed my position as a Public Relations Assistant with the Seattle Storm for the 2023 WNBA season. In this role, I helped the Storm's PR team by compiling game notes, writing post-game recaps, composing player features, assisting at media availabilities, etc. Upon my graduation from MSU, I wrapped up my position as one of MSU's Men's Basketball Beat Writers. In this role I reported on MSU head coach Tom Izzo's 28th season. This position entailed attending games, press conferences and conducting post game interviews with players and coaches followed by game recaps, previews and feature stories on the team.
