Graduate Student Researcher
To fulfill the capstone project requirements for my graduate degree, I partnered with Trees, Water & People (TWP) of Fort Collins and La Asociación de Forestería Comunitaria de Guatemala: Utz Ché to conduct a community-based conservation research project in the rural community of La Bendición, Guatemala. While living in La Bendición for four months, myself and my research partner implemented participatory research methods to identify perceived benefits and ecosystem services of the surrounding forest to inform future community-based forest management plans and conservation capacity building. All findings, results and recommendations were presented to community members of La Bendición and documented in a detailed organizational report to be used by TWP and Utz Che on behalf of community members.
