Top Banana began in 2010 as part of community arts project. During the project we worked with 6 specialist circus artists, trained 30 young people as circus assistants and workshop leaders, and over 1000 people took part in workshops and drop in sessions within Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.We know that circus skills are a great way to engage in a fun, physical and challenging activity, improve fitness and co-ordination and gain a sense of achievement. We are now in residence at the Guildhall in Portsmouth, and are running regular circus and performance workshops for all ages on Saturdays and Sundays from 16th November 2013My role is to- Establish Top Banana as a Community Circus for Portsmouth.- Run circus workshops and for children, young people and adults., - Stage regular performances and an Annual Show by workshop participants, circus artists and Top Banana Assistants.- Run circus workshops, activities and entertainments for schools, community groups, businesses and events. - Recruit talented young local people aged 17+ years and train them in circus, performance and teaching skills.- Develop links with circus artists and other circus organisations locally, regionally and nationally.
