What I do is valuable, because it reduces stress, and helps people cope with the pressures of continually updating and improving what they do and how they do it. I passionately believe that if I can help reduce stress at work, I reduce stress at home, which reduces stress in our communities, which makes for a better quality of life for everyone.I am a pragmatist – I want things to be useful, relevant, timely and intuitive – these are my criteria, against which I judge everything I do.I train, I coach, I consult, I am an author, a speaker, and a mentor – many roles, but all use my talent for creating solutions to problems at work. You can rely on me to give you answers, I want to hear your blockers, your challenges, and your worries because I will use my 30+ years of experience in leading projects, programmes and change initiatives to find something that will help.I must be doing it right, because I support people all over the world, in all sorts of organisations – from the United Nations to a local charity; from Toyota to a new start up; from the NHS to global pharmaceutical firms; from L’Oréal to supermarket chains; from local to central government departments in multiple countries to banks, insurance companies, global technology and telephony giants.I build your capability – which means I help you upskill, and re-skill and I give you the confidence to believe in your abilities. I am passionate about learning, and I continue to learn, as the Chief Examiner for the Agile Change and Neuroscience for Change global qualifications; and as a student of Neuroscience (8 years of formal study and still going!)I love to see you succeed, that moment when you have an insight triggered by something I have shared, when you “get it” after an explanation I have given and when you feel proud of your new qualifications that I have prepared you for.

Global Programme Manager, Business Continuity And Disaster RecoveryIng Barings 1999 - 2000Continuing the work undertaken during the Y2K programme ING formalised its approach to business continuity planning and disaster recovery using the methodology developed by me. The programme was so successful that elements of it were adopted into the global offices of ING Group. The key achievements included the establishment of a network of back up data centres and agreements with every business line of what work would be undertaken during various disaster scenarios and which work would be temporarily suspended. This enabled us to plan required facilities, staff and other resources during each disaster scenario and agree with regulators around the world how our business would be managed during periods of disruption. -
Global Programme Manager, Y2K Business Continuity And Disaster RecoveryIng Barings 1997 - 1999Working with the teams located in each of the major offices of ING Barings and ING my role identified, assessed and planned contingency actions for potential disruption to business as a result of system failure associated with Y2K. The plans encompassed what to do during a continuity situation and what to do to get back from a continuity situation and return to business as usual. The role required extensive liaison with every business unit as responsibility for creation of detailed plans were devolved to the business, with support from the central function that I managed. At the time that this role was created there was very little structure to business continuity and disaster recovery planning within the organisation and I was responsible for establishing the methodology that would be applied, creating the structures that would support the plans and persuading the business of the importance of this work, whilst recognising that its value would only become apparent in the event of a disaster i.e. I was selling a global insurance policy for the organisation as a whole to individual business managers.
