My passion is to provide free educational opportunities of the highest quality to everyone in the world. Computers have an incredible capacity to present information in ways that can aid comprehension, practice, and retention, but are still being used primarily as delivery vehicles for traditional textbook content: text and occasional still images. This approach loses the advantages of a human mentor and does not take advantage of computer capabilities. My goal is to create online educational materials that take advantage of computers' ability to create dynamic, interactive visualizations and employ the known principles of multimedia learning. At present, I'm focusing on creating an online math platform which incorporates all practices that are known to be effective in teaching mathematics and in teaching using multimedia, with the intention that it will continue to evolve as further research is done in these fields, and that I will be able to use it to drive the research forward.
