  • Lifehouse Church Mississauga
    Project Manager/Administrative Officer
Lifehouse Church Mississauga Oct 2013 - Jun 2018
    Mississauga, On, Canada
This position required me to wear many hats but my favorite hat was Project Manager. In this role I planned church events, courses and projects with the Senior Leaders and Leadership Team. I carefully determined each project’s requirements through collaboration with all stakeholders involved and ensured project requirements were met within project deadlines. A large portion of my time was spent managing approximately 70 volunteers who rotated through a team-based structure implemented in 2014. I ensured all roles were fulfilled each Sunday while allowing for flexibility in server schedules. Additionally I trained many new team members. My love for accounting made taking on financial responsibilities in 2014 easy. In addition to low-level tasks such as recording daily transactions in Quick Books Online and preparing bank deposits, I also assisted the Senior Leader with most financial decisions and reported on church finances to the Leadership Team. I prepared all year-end finances, including complex payroll deductions for clergy, for our external accounting firm. I was responsible for all payroll tasks, expense reports, bill payments, donor records and tax receipts.I promoted all church events on our website, social media channels and in-house. I designed special event invitations, flyers and slides for our church presentation software. I managed the church calendar and produced a monthly bulletin. I entered all new data and continually updated existing data in the church database. I compiled statistics and produced reports for Leadership such as volunteer engagement percentage, average attendance and new visitors retained percentages. I recorded and produced minutes of Leadership and Board meetings. Our Senior Leader fondly referred to me as 'the glue that holds LifeHouse together'. It was a role that was challenging and rewarding.
  • Corporate Placements
    Hr Consultant
    Corporate Placements Aug 2007 - Dec 2007
    Cape Town Area, South Africa
This short-term contract position was the perfect opportunity to expand my industry experience out of education and into human resources. The majority of my time was spent matching database candidates with job openings and seeking new candidates. This position required continual liaising with our corporate clients and candidates regarding the status of vacancies. Additional tasks included conducting and documenting telephonic competency-based references with previous employers, writing advertisements and liaising with newspapers, processing verifications (ie: credit, qualification, criminal) via a secure website and other general recruitment administrative functions (e-diary management, drafting resumes, filing, reception, etc.) I was also independently contracted to re-design the computer literacy testing system for the company. Although my employer encouraged me to return my position after the birth of my first child in January 2008, I chose to become a stay-at-home mother.
  • The American International School Of Cape Town
    Teacher/Vice Principal
The American International School Of Cape Town Aug 2004 - Jul 2007
    Cape Town, South Africa
I joined the AISCT faculty in its early years and was therefore solely responsible for the development and delivery of a K-12 Computer Curriculum. I also oversaw all aspects of the computer department from purchasing and supplier negotiations to professional staff development and computer maintenance.Within one year at AISCT, I was promoted to Vice-Principal and held the VP position concurrently with my teaching responsibilities. As VP I developed core systems such as the scheduling and reporting. Moreover, I assisted with most administrative aspects of AISCT (ie: marketing, admissions, teacher recruitment, course offerings, budgeting and salary negotiations.)I also held the elected position of Teacher Representative on the first AISCT School Council. This role was an advisory and communications officer position whereby I represented the views of the faculty in decisions being made by the Council and regularly reported back to the faculty verbally and in written reports. The Council was comprised of the Principal and six elected parents, all of whom were top executives in their industries. I regularly assisted both students and faculty with IT queries before and after school and had an open-door computer lab policy. My extra-curricular activities included designing and creating the programmes and assisting with marketing for the school shows, overseeing Monopoly Club and creating and overseeing Splash Club.
  • Frankfurt International School
    Teacher/Myp Computer Coordinator
Frankfurt International School Aug 2002 - Jul 2004
    Frankfurt Am Main Area, Germany
In my first year teaching at FIS, the Middle Years Program (grades 6 to 10) was still in early implementation. In several years preceding my arrival, there had been no formal computer technology instruction in this age group and the vast majority of the students were struggling with basic IT skills such as file management and keyboarding. I designed and implemented a comprehensive IT curriculum which spanned grades 6 to 9 and covered essential IT skills and theory. Additionally I taught IB Diploma Level Business & Management and Grade 10 Business & Economics. I was also allocated 20% of my teaching schedule to update and administer a curriculum database and work with classroom teachers on how to best integrate IT lessons into their subject-specific lesson plans.I created a Computer Lab Supervisor program in which older students could assist younger students after-school in the computer lab and be awarded Community Service Hours for their work. I also held regular after-school keyboarding workshops for all students, parents and faculty who wished to learn this valuable skill.

Additionally I sponsored the Computer Club and both the Junior School and High School Student Councils. The High School Student Council required a large time commitment and was project-based. In addition to regular theme and sports days, the Student Council designed and implemented a 'Race For Ramadan' which raised over 4000 Egyptian Pounds and was donated to a local hospital.
