I’m Melanie Miller (she/her), a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kentucky. My passion lies in advancing health equity and cultural responsiveness in healthcare through a three-pronged approach: research, clinical practice, and education.My professional journey is guided by the belief that research is a powerful tool for social change. Grounded in critical constructivist theory, I have developed strong quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methodological skills to address complex challenges in healthcare. My experience includes collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams, conducting grant-funded program evaluations, and providing consultation on research design and program development initiatives focused on advancing health equity. My clinical approach is rooted in person-centered care and cultural humility, emphasizing meaningful, client-driven change within each individual’s unique context. I’ve gained skills through advanced doctoral training in diverse behavioral health settings, including integrated healthcare teams, university counseling centers, community health clinics, career counseling services, and crisis intervention. These experiences span in-person and telehealth modalities, addressing individual and group needs across the lifespan. This breadth of training informs my emphasis on health psychology and my long-term goal of working as a psychologist in interdisciplinary healthcare teams.As an educator and adjunct professor of psychology, I view teaching and mentorship as critical tools for advancing holistic community health. I am dedicated to training the next generation of professionals to approach their work with cultural humility and innovative thinking. Through a student-centered approach, I aim to foster a learning environment where students feel empowered to challenge traditional systems and develop evidence-based practices that reflect the diverse needs of the communities they serve.I am currently open to contract and consulting opportunities in education, training, and research/program evaluation.
