With a belief in the power of arts to strengthen communities and enrich lives, I have worked across multiple roles to support the embedding of culture within regeneration, placemaking, community development and health and wellbeing agendas. I specialise in entrepreneurial and creative thinking and bring experience and knowledge gained as CEO and Creative Director of Greenwich Dance as well as within roles at Shubbak, The Place, Sadler’s Wells and DanceEast. Specialisms include cultural leadership, organisational development, governance and business planning, bid writing, research and analysis, project development and evaluation - all of which draw upon an earlier performance and teaching career. I currently feel passionately about the need for reform within arts organisations and aim to use my experience, creative thinking and insight to create a better world for art and culture to thrive. My open letter, 'To The People With The Power to Make Change' shares some of my thinking around reform to the funding landscape. https://greenwichdance.org.uk/about-us/news/to-the-people-who-have-the-power-to-make-a-change/

Chief Executive Officer And Creative DirectorGreenwich Dance Jun 2018 - Mar 2024GreenwichHaving taken on the role when the organisation had lost Arts Council England NPO funding and been evicted from the Borough Hall, I remodelled the organisation as peripatetic. Within two years I had taken it from running into its reserves to one showing a small surplus: winning Best of Royal Greenwich Business In Tourism and Culture 2020 and invited by the (ex) leader of the Council, Danny Thorpe, having authored multiple placemaking initiatives and secured the interest of Turner Prize Winner Jeremy Deller, to present Greenwich’s 2020 London Borough of Culture bid to the GLA. I led the organisation through the pandemic, creating through the crisis and securing three rounds of CRF funding. I authored and delivered a fundraising plan resulting in over £1.8m with £0.88m generated through successful relationships with 16 Trusts and Foundations including Garfield Weston, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, City Bridge Foundation, Foyle Foundation, Sport England and National Lottery. I managed and developed a small team of producers and consultants. I initiated and successfully fundraised for a new and empowering model Artists in Residence: drawing artists closer to decision making, offering longer term contracts, development, support and increased artistic freedom. In 2022 I relocated the organisation to The Nest, a purpose-built community facility in Thamesmead unlocking in-kind support and commissioning from Peabody to create a programme addressing inequalities of cultural provision. Despite this, against an ever-increasingly challenging landscape impacted by the levelling up agenda, cost of living crisis and cuts to our funding from the local authority, upon instruction from the Board I closed the organisation in 2023 – successfully novating grants and campaigning throughout for reform within the arts funding model. In 2023 Greenwich Dance was shortlisted for a One Dance UK award (Community Champion) and I was shortlisted for a One Dance UK Dance Spotlight Award.

Creative ProducerLuca Silvestrini'S Protein Mar 2015 - Jun 2018GreenwichAs Creative Producer I worked alongside the Artistic Director, Luca Silvestrini and the Executive Director to develop and devise the strategic direction and content of the artistic programme. This included leading on participation programmes as well as working closely with Luca Silvestrini through the initial research and development process and subsequent creation and tour booking of his show The Little Prince. I supported the fundraising needs for the company, successfully raising funds required to deliver a number of initiatives including a three week intensive creation project in a pupil referral unit in Stockton within which we embedded Arts Award (Trusthouse Charitable Foundation), and a 26 date tour of care homes and community centres of May Contain Food, May Contain You (Royal Borough of Greenwich Community Fund and Rural Touring Dance Initiative funding) which I also tour booked and produced. I led on the evaluation and reporting of participatory and community projects as well as contributing to quarterly ACE KPI monitoring and reporting. I was responsible for training and artist development initiatives, both for members of the company as well as offers for external artists. I also led on and developed initiatives for schools and supported the company with the delivery of projects for refugees and migrant communities. In the interim absence of the Executive Director I led on the business planning and authoring of Protein’s successful NPO application covering the period 2018 – 2022 which resulted in an uplift.
