My first call was to nursing. In my 7th grade yearbook, a friend signed “You’re going to be a great nurse one day!”. My 30+yrs focused on the hospital setting in various areas of the US. I held a variety of positions: Staff Nurse, Critical Care Flight/Transport Nurse, Nurse Manager & Director. In my last health system I served in Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer, Division Vice President, Division Chief Nursing Executive & Consultant roles. While I loved practicing in the US, many of the highlights of my career were experiences with colleagues overseas. Years later, I was as surprised as anyone when a new call came into my life. But the voice of the Father was unmistakable, and as I had so many years before, I knew to listen. I retired from full-time nursing in 2021 and began the work of formal discernment. This process has been one of deep introspection, involving multiple layers of examination, and bringing me into contact with an amazing group of spiritual mentors who will likely be life-long friends!I was grateful to be sent forth on this journey by my home parish, St. John's Episcopal Church in Tallahassee, FL. I'm equally grateful to have been assigned to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in for my Parish Placement, and to be allowed to continue with them afterward. As well, I had the privilege to serve on the Board of Grace Mission Episcopal Church for years, & I’m thankful I could do so. I’m now a Postulant for Holy Orders, in pursuit of ordination to the Priesthood. I feel a deep joy to be walking this path in the Episcopal Diocese of Florida - particularly with the mentors that have been assigned to me in this process, and the parishioners I have the privilege to serve.Lastly, I've learned - I thought the Lord made me to be a nurse... but on this journey, I've come to understand that my years in nursing prepared me for ministry - and the two complement one another! Thank you for your diligence in reading my story to the end… may the relentless Love and Peace of God be with you today & always!
