Formally trained at the Royal College of Music, I have been a classical pianist for over 35 years giving piano recitals at various venues around the world.I write, compose & teach the piano, & have penned 28 books. I regularly write for various publications including Music Teacher Magazine, International Piano Magazine, & the Daily Telegraph, as well as a series of articles on piano technique published by EPTA in the Piano Professional Magazine. I also write a regular instructional column in Pianist Magazine. My piano course, Play it again: PIANO (Schott) has been an international success, becoming one of Schott Music's best-selling series. I selected the repertoire for the Faber Music Piano Anthology (Faber), and my first book, So You Want To Play The Piano? is published by Alfred UK. My three-book series; Women Composers - A Graded Anthology For Piano (Schott) won a Presto Music Award for the best 'New Series of The Year' & I've also published a series for beginners with the Willis Music Company. As a composer, I write educational piano music, which is published by Schott (my work features in the renowned Edition Schott Series), Willis Music, & 80 Days Publishing; many pieces are included in exam & competition syllabuses. I've written three complete pre-Grade 1 piano syllabuses for the London College of Music. My compostions are increasingly performed around the world. I've taught the piano at Royal Holloway University of London, Reading University & the Royal College of Music Junior Department, coached piano classes at the Yehudi Menuhin School, EPTA, & regularly run a bilingual piano project in Germany. I tutor courses at Jackdaws Music Education Trust, Finchcocks, & I have repeatedly toured the Far East, giving workshops & classes. I currently teach the piano at Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Eton College.I have performed on radio (Classic FM, BBC Radio 2, CBC Radio), & Swedish & Spanish television. I've examined for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) & I adjudicate for the International & British Federation of Music Festivals. I've recently adjudicated in Hong Kong, Chicago & Singapore.Performances include appearances at all the major venues in the UK including The South Bank Centre & Wigmore Hall. Audiences have included members of the British & Danish Royal Families.I interviewed 40 eminent pianists live on YouTube, as part of my Classical Conversations Series, featuring Valentina Lisitsa, Cyprien Katsaris, Andrei Gavrilov, Angela Hewitt, Paul Lewis, Stephen Kovacevich, and John Lill.
