Developed a groundbreaking hybrid, nanomaterial–based LED technology that significantly reduced the cost of the raw materials and fabrication operations involved in developing LED. This innovative technology has received annually renewable funding from a Canadian federal funding agency, U.S. provisional patent (pending), nomination to Dean of Science Award, and commercialization opportunities. Research focused on the development of white-light emitting transparent conducting oxide–chromophore nanocomposites: characterizing the material, quantifying the performance and building an energy efficient white–light emitting diode prototype based on this type of hybrid nanomaterial. Optical measurements (UV–Vis–NIR, Photoluminescence, Phosphorescence, Time–Correlated Single Photon Count) were used as the predominant methods which allow identification of potential nanomaterials for light–emitting diode fabrications. Involvement in prototype–development, field–demonstration for funding opportunities and assisted in commercialization–pathway assessment and patent drafting during the duration of this experience.Thesis titled, "Förster Resonance Energy Transfer Mediated White-light Emitting Rhodamine Fluorophore Derivatives–Gamma Phase Gallium Oxide Nanostructures", nominated for Dean of Science Award.Led a collaboration project that involved in introducing surface–modified transparent conducting oxide nanoparticles for nanofluidic devices through surfactant engineering.Taken the role as teaching assistant for instructing, supervising laboratories, grading assignments and laboratory reports on junior and senior levels. Established developments in the field of bioinorganic chemistry, which encompasses the synthetic, structural, and reactivity aspects of transitional element chemistry, focused in synthetic analogs of the active sites of iron–sulfur proteins. Performed anaerobic (glovebox and Schlenk techniques) syntheses of weak-field iron and nitrogen/sulfide anion core ligand to mimic chemical and physical properties of Iron Molybdenum–cofactor. Explored low-coordinate ferrous/sub-ferrous thiolate/carbene complexes for studying dinitrogen activation and developed novel complexes for reactivity investigations. Characterization of the structures were conducted predominantly using NMR and Single crystal X–ray diffraction. Executed instrumental maintenance and prepared background work for budgeting purposes.
