Develop and implement Lumina’s national strategy to increase participation in bachelor’s programs, specifically for Black, Latinx, and Native students. Managed the Student Affairs and Access Department and administered its $6 million budget. Led systemwide student initiatives that support simplified admissions, postsecondary access, mental health and wellness, campus safety, equity, and belonging, basic needs, and meaningful student engagement in board initiatives. Spearheaded the board’s top priority initiative for 2021 of placing a college access adviser in every high school in Utah. Built a coalition of support for the initiative by working with leaders at Utah’s public higher education institutions, state agencies, legislators, K-12 leaders, and community partners. Successfully secured funding and implemented the statewide expansion of the Utah College Advising Corps—from 13 high schools in 2020 to 71 high schools in 2022—and oversaw the program’s $2.8 million annual budget. Directed Utah’s statewide access programs, including the coordination of Utah College Application Week events in 150 high schools, FAFSA completion events in over 160 high schools, professional development on college access for over 500 high school counselors and administrators, and the establishment, support, and annual convening of the state’s first regional network of college access partners, consisting of over 130 college access leaders from across the state. Chaired the USHE Simplified Admissions Taskforce, a coalition of 25 admissions and enrollment management professionals from across the Utah system toward the recommendation of a simplified admissions process for Utah students. Led statewide strategies for college student mental health and wellness, in partnership with the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, the Education and Mental Health Coordinating Council, the University of Utah Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, JED Campus, and 16 USHE institutions.
